The Society makes this point in response to a discussion paper issued by Government as part of the process of developing its new Long-term Transport Master Plan. The full text of the Society’s submission can be read here.

If so then you may be interested in a Community Workshop REDWatch is putting on with Professor Peter Phibbs, to help everyday residents find out who decides what, how to find meaning in all that jargon – terms like DA, LEP, DCP, Master Plan, SEPP – and how residents can influence planning decisions. Peter Phibbs runs a day course at UWS aimed at non-planners and we have asked him to come to Redfern and run a session for any residents who would like to know more about planning.

Glebe Society meets with Mirvac re Harold Park
Posted on 11th September 2011
The City of Sydney Council recently received a set of Development Applications (D/2011/1311-2&1298-9) from Mirvac for the first two precincts on the Harold Park site and subsequently invited comment from the community at large with a deadline of 28 September for submissions. Broadly the proposals for precincts 1 and 2 appear to conform to what has already been approved, that is, there is little change from the plans previously agreed by Council. There are some issues that the Society considers as areas of concern but members will have their own concerns based on how much they expect to be affected.

Government response on Bays planning ‘belated and depressing’
Posted on 18th February 2011
On 5 February the Minister for Planning Tony Kelly belatedly released his response to the community consultation on the future of the Bays Precinct. The report was slipped out without fanfare. It is too late to be of any significance in the life of this Government. And most depressingly, its proposed planning principles for the Bays are bland and weak where they most need to be tight and strong.
