Extraordinary support from our members has ensured that our project is unequivocally viable. With the project launch, we received a massive amount of good quality recycled goods as well as cash donations but, equally important, there has been a steady stream of recycled goods since then.

Since the inception of this project, to provide kits of basic kitchen equipment for families moving out of supported accommodation, the Glebe Society has delivered six packs to Elsie Refuge.

There are families and individuals who reside temporarily in Glebe while overcoming difficulties life has thrown into their paths. This year the community committee of TGSI would like to be able to take gifts for residents to Elsie Women’s refuge and to one or two other residential facilities.

Centipede’s Sunset Soirée Raises Much-needed Funds

The highlight of the evening was a presentation by Snr Constable Renee Fortuna from Glebe Police, who described the program and progress of their youth initiatives at work in Glebe, that aim to encourage otherwise alienated youth to continue their education and aspire to bright futures.

The Maccas Fracas

Concerned locals handed out flyers identifying the multitude of coffee shops and restaurants which already provided good service and could potentially be disadvantaged by the increased competition a multi-national might provide. That night, some intemperate and cowardly person chose to express his/her opposition to the temporary development by hurling a brick through its window.

What Heartless Person Saw Fit to Cut the Ribbons Down?

On Saturday 12 March people gathered at Bidura, the former Children’s Court and remand centre located at 357 Glebe Point Rd to raise awareness and lend support to people who survived the injustices perpetrated against them when they were children. A miserable few chose to belittle the survivors’ experiences by cutting down the ribbons .

What is Centipede and Why Do We Support It?

Centipede at Glebe Public School Inc. is a community based, charitable foundation / service organisation that has been providing before and after school care for students at the Glebe Primary School since 1989. The care that Centipede provides includes meals, ie breakfast and dinner, and social development opportunities to local Glebe Public Primary School children.

The Naming of Dave Sands Lane

On Sunday 26 July a large number of people gathered at 27 Broughton St, Glebe for a ceremony to celebrate a well-known Australian sportsman. The champion boxer, Dave Sands was honoured when the nearby lane was named in his memory.
NAIDOC Week in Glebe

Friends of Centipede

Extreme Weather Events and Public Housing

The City of Sydney unit of SES was called on to respond to scores of requests for assistance (RFAs) during the recent torrential rains. At some HNSW properties the lack of maintenance by HNSW had obviously increased the potential for such problems.
