Plans for 87 Bay Street
Posted on 26th May 2013Between the Affordable Housing site and Wentworth Park is an old industrial site, formerly the NSW Government Garage. Before that, the part of the site on the corner of Bay Street housed the Glebe Ragged School, which moved there from the corner of Glebe Street in 1890.

Posted on 26th May 2013This proposal has been in abeyance for some time, but has now reappeared in the form of an application that gives the building envelopes and locations, but still does not include details of the actual units. The proposal is little changed from the one to which we objected last year.
Community Planning Forum resolves to fight proposed NSW planning changes

Glebe Voices: Tranby Refelections – Tranby Aboriginal College – Monday 8th July
Posted on 17th May 2013Tranby Aboriginal College in Mansfield Street is Australia’s oldest Indigenous education provider, operating for some 55 years. A not-for-profit co-operative, the College has seen thousands of students graduate and go on to make lasting changes in their lives and those of their families and communities. Darlene Hoskins-Mackenzie, Interim Chair of the Board of Directors, will lead a Glebe Voices session at the College during NAIDOC week and introduce the work of the College and its plans for the future including strengthening ties with the local community. Please join us at 6.00pm on 8th July at Tranby, 11-13 Mansfield St.

Melina (Galluzzo) Lane naming ceremony – 5th May
Posted on 16th April 2013To remember Melina Galluzzo, a well known and loved member of the Glebe community, who worked in Galluzzo’s Fruit Market for over 50 years, the Glebe Community Action Group initiated a project to name the lane just off Campbell Street between St. Johns Road and Norton Street, ‘Melina Lane’. City of Sydney Council has approved this naming. Join us for the official naming of ‘Melina Lane’ on Sunday 5 May, 2013 from 2 – 3pm
Off Broadway! Exploring the Art of Chippendale – 1st June
Posted on 14th April 2013Join a tour of interesting art galleries in Chippendale, including the White Rabbit Gallery, and discover this special art precinct – all within a few minutes’ walk from Broadway. Thirsty Thursday – Despana – Thursday 2nd May
Posted on 15th April 2013Members and friends are invited to meet in restaurants in and around Glebe, usually on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm, to eat and talk with other people who live in Glebe. We visit a different restaurant each month, with varying cuisines. Our next event will be on Thursday 2nd May when we will share a meal at the Despana, 101 Glebe Point Road, Glebe.

Sleep Apnea research at the Woolcock Institute
