Forty-three members attended the 48th Annual General Meeting held on Sunday 20 August in the Glebe Town Hall.
After the formalities, the guest speaker, Senior Constable Renee Fortuna, spoke to the members about her work with the youth of Glebe.

This has been a busy year for the Transport and Traffic Group. We have been involved with several matters including working to limit the adverse impact of the WestConnex project on Glebe and Forest Lodge, seeking improvements to the cycle amenities in our suburb and making our concerns known to the State Government about its proposal to privatise our bus services.

In Sydney, we are currently mired in an era of rush-to-build. It is a given that arguments for better public transport and more social and affordable housing in Sydney are not disputed. And yes, the issues are complex. But the problem is the abject willingness of government to abandon their own heritage principles and conservation areas and displace long-standing communities in order to ‘cut through’.

During the past 12 months there have been occasional sightings of blue wrens in Glebe – always around St Johns Rd and Jarocin Ave – and it is likely that they have flown from the campus of the University of Sydney

Transport and Traffic Subcommittee Annual Report 2015 – 2016

Transport and Traffic matters were again dominated this year by the WestConnex project.
The Glebe Society was also involved in opposing a series of changes proposed by IPART to the fares structure for NSW public transport, including a suggested increase of the daily fares for seniors from the current $2.50 a day maximum to $9 a day maximum.
