Harold Park Community Hall to host Pyrmont Community Centre

Community spaces – centres, town halls, libraries – belong to us, and must operate for our benefit; they should not be treated by Council as revenue raisers. Friends of Pyrmont Community Centre are celebrating a victory in their campaign for an alternative home while Pyrmont Community Centre closes for 70 weeks for renovations. Many of its regular events are moving to the Harold Park Community Hall at the Tramsheds. Glebeites and Forest Lodgers are welcome to attend.

The decline in community services ‒ Council election issue

One of the candidates in the Mayoral election, Labor candidate Linda Scott, has a policy commitment to ‘Re-Establish Community Centres and City of Sydney Town Halls’. This is directly in line with the Glebe Society’s proposal to Council that a staffed community centre be established in Glebe Town Hall.

Community Development Subcommittee Annual Report 2019-2020

This past year the Community sub-group has continued to undertake actions and projects aimed at strengthening links with the wider Glebe community wherever possible. This continues to be one of the guiding principles behind our activities. This report will essentially outline those activities according to the type of activity and the community partner(s) with which we have engaged.
