On 17 July, the Glebe Society made a submission to City of Sydney regarding the development application D/2023/393.

The original development application involving 20 and 22 Forest Street and 13 and 15 Ross Street, Forest Lodge was lodged on 11 May 2023. The applicant appealed to the Land and Environment Court (LAEC). A conciliation conference was held on site on 15 February 2024 at which three submitters including the Glebe Society spoke.

The City of Sydney is re-assessing the DA for the purposes of the LAEC appeal and a renotification application was placed on exhibition on 2 June 2024. The application is for alterations to an existing boarding house development at 13-15 Ross Street, demolition of two houses, 20 and 22 Forest Street, and construction of a co-living housing development at 20-22 Forest Street which includes an excavation. The application also requires approval from Water NSW.

Our submission objects to, among other things, the proposed demolition of 20 and 22 Forest Street as they are Contributory items in the Hereford and Forest Lodge Heritage Conservation Area.
