The next ‘Glebe Eats’ event will be on Tuesday 1 September at Otto Noorba, 79 Glebe Point Road, beginning at 6 pm. As usual there will be a set menu, designed to be shared, at a price of $50 per head, to be paid in cash on the day.
Nature-based pre-school opens in Camperdown

A new early childhood program at St Joseph’s Camperdown provides nature‑rich learning, supporting children’s inquiry into ecosystems, seasons and outdoor discovery in nursery, toddler and preschool spaces.

The next ‘Glebe Eats’ event will be on Tuesday 28 July at Thai on Wok, 94 Glebe Point Road, beginning at 6 pm. As with the inaugural event last month there will be a set menu, designed to be shared at a price of $50 per head, to be paid in cash on the day.
Glebe Music Festival concerts

A Special Glebe Music Festival concert with Duo Mimesi is on 24 July. The 37th Annual Glebe Music Festival runs 6–22 November, including ‘Lace: A micro opera’ on 7 and 8 November.

The AGM on 23 August at the Tramsheds will feature Elizabeth Farrelly in conversation with Allan Hogan. Farrelly is a writer, critic, former City of Sydney Councillor and founder of the Better Cities Initiative.
A heritage win: when a minute takes years

Council promised better heritage resources in 2021 but delivered nothing until mid‑2025. After sustained advocacy by the Glebe and Paddington Societies, new heritage webpages are finally underway.

Report on guided visit to the Sydney Heritage Fleet

A full Glebe Society visit to the Sydney Heritage Fleet enjoyed a sunny tour focused on the ferry Kanangra. We donated $650 to support the fleet. Thanks to Alex Byrne and the volunteers.

New foreshore projects and NSW’s fast‑track housing agenda will impact Glebe. The Society warns against uniform planning rules and has lodged submissions calling for genuine community involvement.
Possible changes at Rozelle Bay

Lendlease’s unsolicited Rozelle Bay development proposal includes 3,500 homes within an extensive mixed‑use precinct. It would displace marine businesses, including the unique volunteer‑run Sydney Heritage Fleet.
Proposed Blackwattle Bay development

Mirvac plans at least one 42‑storey tower at the old Fish Market site—above Infrastructure NSW’s suggested height. Planning NSW’s rules were softened so projects need only ‘consider’ design guidelines.

June’s Mystery Photo was the Baby Health Centre in Foley Park, built 1951, demolished 2009. Seven readers shared memories of taking their babies there from the 1960s to the 1990s.
Ecumenical Stations of the Cross

About 40 people walked an ecumenical Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, stopping at local sites to pray for peace and community needs, finishing at the Uniting Chapel … and hot cross buns!
Parking changes proposed for streets near new Fish Market
