Volunteering Opportunities

 The Glebe Palmerston and Surrounds Landcare Group continues to meet on the first Sunday of each month from 8 to 10 am for weeding and maintenance of the three small parks near the Palmerston Avenue steps. The next working bee is on Sunday 5 July. Please contact Anna Szanto at glebepalmerstonlandcare@gmail.com if you would like to help.

All are invited to join the Orphan School Creek Bushcare Group for a community planting at the Wood Street playground in Forest Lodge.

The event will be held on Sunday 19 July from 10 am to 11 am. The site is part of the Orphan School Creek Reserve accessed from Wood Street near the corner of Hereford Street, Forest Lodge. The City of Sydney urban ecology team are organising and supporting the planting and providing gloves and tools. However please bring your own gloves if you have them and wear covered shoes. More details from urbanecology@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au. It is not necessary to register beforehand.

This area was part of the bushland restoration project for Orphan School Creek, with the first trees and shrubs planted in 2009. The community planting event will focus on infill planting of native grasses and wildflowers to improve habitat for birds, bees and butterflies.
