A little bit about St John’s
The church was opened in 1870 and the architects were Edmund Blacket (a Glebe local for 19 years) and his associate John Horbury Hunt. Blacket also designed the Great Hall at Sydney University, St Andrew’s Cathedral and Bidura on Glebe Point Road (which was his family home). The church is in Romanesque style which was unusual for Blacket. The choir, vestry and porch were added in 1909, designed by his son Cyril who also added the tower and bells in 1911. For more details see the Glebe Walks website. We appreciate the hospitality of Reverend Gary Lee-Lindsay and the Parish Council for making this wonderful venue available.
On 5 December take a wander down Glebe Point Road to enjoy this special end of year social event. We hope to see you there!
