By Duncan Leys, Acting President, from Bulletin 6/2026 (July)
The Glebe Society thrives because of the energy and commitment of its volunteers. If you’ve ever thought about contributing more actively, this year’s AGM on 23 August 2026 offers a great opportunity to join our Management Committee and help shape the future of the Glebe Society.
The Committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 7–9 pm at Benledi House. With major local issues on the horizon – including the redevelopment of the former Fish Market site and Glebe Island, future plans for Wentworth Park, transport improvements, parking and e-mobility device regulation, and strengthening our social media and events programs – it’s an exciting time to get involved.

Wentworth Park good news
The demolition of the greyhound racing grandstand at Wentworth Park has been brought forward to later this year, paving the way for the area, which is Crown land, to be returned to the community. Given the number of dwellings due to be built in the surrounding area, keeping this as open space is going to be vital.
