The Glebe Society Bulletin Mockup 2024By Duncan Leys and Sarah Fogg

At our November 2025 meeting the management committee decided to make some changes to the Glebe Society Bulletin.

The changes we are making were guided by the results of the recent survey of members’ views on the Bulletin and the need to make sure the Editor’s role is manageable – to make life easier for them.

We will no longer produce a printed version of the Bulletin. Currently, the majority of members receive an email each month with a link to the Bulletin on our website. Instead, all members will receive this email. Arrangements will be made for the small number of members who do not have access to email. This edition (December 2025) is the last that will be printed.

This has been a big decision – after all, we have been producing a printed Bulletin for over 50 years – and we appreciate that it will be missed, but the way people obtain and read information has changed.

We are also exploring options to spread the tasks involved in editing and producing the Bulletin. For example, possibly using a graphic designer (paid) for some of the tasks.

The Bulletin will be limited in future to 12 pages. Individual articles will be limited to around 600 words, other than in exceptional circumstances. Longer articles will be posted in full on our website with a mention in the Bulletin itself (and a link to the full article).

Website and social media

Our glebesociety.org.au website attracts approximately 30,500 users per annum, that is, a much greater reach than the Bulletin. It’s a key way that people first get to hear about the Glebe Society and it also contains a treasure trove of information about Glebe. We will continue over time to upgrade parts of the website to improve its useability, review the content and refresh the look.

We also recognise that our social media presence is underdone. We could be spreading the word about the Glebe Society and about Glebe and Forest Lodge and engaging with the community much more effectively through Facebook, YouTube, Instagram etc.
