What a marvellous venue this is proving to be… I hope they can extend their dining hours to the vending soon.

Visitors to this page should see the later post which is the Society’s formal response to the DA. The Society is aware of the concerns of residents who live in close proximity to Bellevue and addressed those concerns (parking, noise, hours of operation) in its response to the DA.
This earlier post was intended to encourage the Council to approve a lease which would give the operators of the venue a reasonable chance of commercial viability. The Society believes that this will encourage permanent occupation of this heritage building, and the best prospects for its maintenance and preservation.

I am disappointed and totally shocked that the Glebe Society would support such a DA for the Bellevue Cottage.
1. It is not in a remote location, being adjacent to hundreds of units and houses.
2. The limitations of access and local parking is not similar to any other similar venue, be it Glebe Diner, the Boatshed, let alone Chowder Bay.
3. The lack of thought in regard to the effects the size of the DA proposal and the number of patrons is mind-blowing.
4. I am not against Bellevue Cottage becoming a restaurant/cafe, but serious thought much go into the plans and what will work both for the venue and the community which surrounds it.

This letter is dated 24 October 2017, but was “posted” (on the Glebe Society website? or to City of Sydney Council? or both?).
The DA is dated 8 December. Council’s letter advising a restricted number of local residents of the DA is dated 19 December 2017.
Had the Glebe Society seen the DA before giving this apparent green light to the proposal?
Why were Glebe Society members not informed, advised, or consulted first?
Many of us who live close to this “remote location” and are Glebe Society members feel betrayed by the Glebe Society and the Council.
