The NSW Government recently launched a discussion paper on the issue where some local government Councillors are also Members of the NSW Parliament.  The Glebe Society emailed all members in December to advise of the government’s discussion paper, and we advised members that this is a very relevant issue for Glebe.  The closing date for submissions was 31st January, and the Glebe Society has made its own submission, a copy of which is available here.  The submission made by the Glebe Society supports the current system where it is the role of the electorate to decide whether a candidate should be elected to either role.
