By Mary Regan, from Bulletin 5/2026 (July)
Thanks to Susan Ingram and Philip Vergison for your entries this month.
Our winner this month is Philip’s photograph which we’ve titled ‘The Building, the Sky and the Moon’, a wonderful contrast between the sharp lines of a not particularly exciting building and the dramatic sky and soft clouds, lit up by the moon. The lighting is also interesting, the cool coloured building contrasting against the intensity of the sky, with the amber lights of the apartments.
Congratulations Philip! Philip is now in the running for the Photo of the Year prize, which is two free tickets for one of next year’s Glebe Society Guided Walks or a Glebe Talks event. The winning photograph will be published in the first edition of the Bulletin next year.
Susan’s shot ‘Reaching for the Sky’ showcases one of our majestic trees in Foley Park on a brilliant winter day.
Share your photos of Glebe or Forest Lodge
We are really keen to see and share your photos, particularly of interesting subjects, but a reminder that entries need to be very clear, high-resolution images. Sadly, we’ve not been able to accept some recent entries because they are just too blurry for publication. The picture might look OK on a phone, but not when enlarged on a screen.

Before clicking the shutter or the smart-phone button, take a moment to compose your photo, set your focus and take care to keep a steady hand. Take multiple shots to have a better chance of capturing a good shot with clear details.
Send your photos in at any time to photo-comp@ glebesociety.org.au. The closing date to be featured in next month’s Bulletin is Friday 18 July.
