This is the latest communique from the residents’ group seeking to overturn the construction of a switchback concrete path in the Gully:

Dear Glebe Society member,

By now you may have read the articles in this month’s Bulletin about the new and unwanted inclusion of a zig zag path in what was to be a native bushland habitat at Orphan School Creek, Forest Lodge.

We hope you will support us in trying to find a way out of this – we all want our bushland and native habitat back.

To that end we have three events we hope you can help us with. Sorry about the short notice- but this path is currently being constructed so it is URGENT that we do something NOW.

1. PROTEST. Please come to the Wood St site: 7:00am, next Monday 30th March, 2009.The first is that we will be staging a protest on Monday 30th March at 7am at the Wood St gates (Near bottom of Hereford st, Forest Lodge) . We hope to have as many people as possible. We hope to have a media presence. There will be an Extraordinary General Meeting about this issue at Council the same day and we hope to send a message that we want this issue properly investigated but most of all we want the path removed and we want our promised bushland habitat.

2. . Please join us at an extraordinary Council meeting: 1:00pm, Monday 30 March 2009This critical meeting has been called specifically in relation to the strong community concerns regarding the site. It will be held at Council Chambers, Level 3 Town Hall House, 456 Kent St Sydney.

3. Please join us at Council’s community meeting “whats going on in the Inner West”: 6:00pm, Tues 31st March atRydges Hotel, Missenden Road Camperdown.

We really hope to see you there and really appreciate your support.

Here is a flyer that outlines the details and also has a photo of before and after.
