In its ultimately successful campaign to prevent the two expressways that would have trifurcated Glebe, the Society produced its first monograph in 1972: ‘An Alternative to Inner Urban Expressways by David Potter. The proposals put forward was for a greatly improved public transport system using both trains and buses. It foreshadowed the use of the then unused goods line for passenger trains – a plan that was realised as the light rail line now running through Glebe’.
