Pyrmont Cares is a small local charity making a difference in our inner-city community through the application of a simple model – we collect unwanted but good quality whitegoods, household items and furniture, and then distribute them to people in need.
Over 40 social agencies are registered with us and refer clients to Pyrmont Cares for assistance. In the past 12 months we have helped nearly 200 people in the inner city – including in Glebe – affected by hardship, domestic violence, homelessness and poverty. Often, they are moving into an apartment with no or minimal furniture. In a practical way we help make their homes more comfortable and at the same time we divert a substantial amount of furniture from landfill.
We are supported by financial donations but have no government funding and are run entirely with volunteers.
We are grateful for financial donations and always need donations of good quality furniture and whitegoods. Please also consider a volunteer role with us and help support and strengthen a friendlier and more caring community.
