By Rodney Hammett, Bulletin 10/2024, December
A chance examination of a recent incoming email from Museums of History NSW1 led me to a newly-digitised collection of photographs. This series (NRS-15721) consists of photographic material held by the former NSW Department of Urban Affairs and Planning Photographic Unit and, subsequently, the Heritage Branch of the Department of Planning.
Upon digging, I discovered a treasure trove of over 30 coloured photos of the Glebe waterfront taken in 1976. Do these look familiar?
1. According to their website, Museums of History NSW was established in December 2022 and ‘brings together the historic houses, museums and collections previously in the care of Sydney Living Museums with the vast archives and records in the NSW State Archives Collection.’
