I remember when it had full length louvre doors across the front.
I learnt to walk along the front verandah and dad used to sit me on the windowsill in the attic looking at the boats in the bay. He was the one who repaired the slate roof for many years and my mother was scared of a ghost who haunted the place and couldn’t wait to move.
The bathroom was across the back yard next to where the stables used to be. A pump was used to deliver water to the kitchen. The grandparents manufactured hats in the loft above the stables. We always entered from Cook Street. My grandparents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary there. They were the first manufacturers is straw hats in Australia
