On Wednesday 19 July 2017, Andrew Botros gave us an introduction to signals, neurons and aspects of artificial intelligence (AI). Among many points, he touched on the future of work, the transience of careers and the control of many areas of endeavour by a few very rich individuals or companies. He also talked about the application of AI in processing signals in cochlear implants. There was animated discussion on driverless cars and the potential and responsibility for accidents, machine reading and character recognition and the loss of appreciation for font design. Yuga café hosted our Glebe Voices session – our thanks to them as always.
