Posted on 24th September 2025Ted McKeown honours Neil Macindoe, former Society president and planning convenor, known for his role in the 1996 film Rats in the Ranks. Neil passed away in June.
A win-win solution for Glebe’s Hill
Posted on 19th September 2025The Society has written to the City of Sydney proposing a win-win solution for Glebe’s Hill, between the the Jubilee Park Light Rail Station and the Tramsheds.
Pyrmont cares
Posted on 15th September 2025Pyrmont Cares collects quality household goods and gives them to locals in need. Volunteer-run and donation-funded, it helped nearly 200 people last year while reducing landfill waste.
Changes at Glebe Youth Service
Posted on 24th September 2025Glebe Youth Service will become an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO). More than 70% of GYS’ users identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, but it will remain a welcoming place for all members of the community.

Transport and Traffic Subcommittee Annual Report 2025

Heritage Subcommittee Annual Report 2025
Posted on 13th August 2025The Heritage Subcommittee met monthly in 2025 to research, advocate, and engage with the public on Glebe’s history and heritage. It reviewed 107 DAs, responded to public queries, published articles, and contributed to heritage policy.

Obituary: Grahame Murray Budd (1930–2025)

Report on Bridge Road Cycleway Public Meeting
Posted on 12th August 2025At a packed 6 July meeting, safety auditor Zoran Bakovic presented his Bridge Road cycleway audit. The Transport Minister and departmental reps were absent. Locals voted against the proposed design.

Wesley Mission to take RJ Williams site at Glebe to market
Posted on 5th August 2025Wesley Mission is selling the RJ Williams Lodge site (274 Glebe Point Road) because it’s been unable to obtain the funding required to re-purpose the building for much-needed affordable housing.
Secondary dwelling at 32 St Johns Road – a ‘modern interpretation’ of heritage
Posted on 9th August 2025Council approved a rear dwelling at 32 St Johns Road in the St Phillips Heritage Conservation Area (HCA). Neighbour Lyn Milton says it clashes with DCP rules for secondary/laneway dwellings in HCAs.
