Funeral for Frank Galluzzo – 31st Dec 2010
Posted on 29th December 2010We were saddened to hear of the death of Mr Frank Galluzzo, the patriarch of the Galluzo family that has owned and operated Galluzzo’s fruit & veg shop in Glebe Point Road for many decades. Frank died on 28th December, and his funeral will be held at St James Catholic Church, Woolley Street, Forest Lodge, at 10.00 a.m. on Friday 31st December 2010

21st Annual Glebe Music Festival – 28th Oct to 28th Nov

The acclaimed Australian guitarist and graduate of Yale University, Simon Powis, will perform this opening concert at Gleebooks on Thursday 28th October at 7pm.

Book Launch: Stained Glass Windows of St James Church – 31st October

The book will be launched on Sunday 31st October 2010 at St James Church. Members of the Glebe Society are invited to attend.
Harold Park – report to the AGM
Posted on 30th August 2010As of Friday 27 August, Harold Park Paceway had not reached an agreement with the City of Sydney on proposed planning controls for the site and hence the draft rezoning has not been formally presented to the Minister, Tony Kelly.

Annual General Meeting – 29th August 2010

The formal proceedings will be followed by a guest speaker and light refreshments. All members welcome! The Guest Speaker will be Dr Stewart Condon, Medecins sans Frontieres.
Ride the vintage tugboat “Waratah” around the Bays – 31st October
Posted on 11th August 2010The Glebe Society is hiring the 1902 vintage tugboat Waratah for a late afternoon ride around the local Bays, on Sunday 31st October. Unfortunately, this event has already booked out, and it has a waiting list. Given the level of interest, the Glebe Society will consider a repeat event, probably next year.

City Council agrees to Harold Park zoning proposal
Posted on 27th July 2010The Central Sydney Planning Committee and the Council of the City of Sydney have agreed to zoning proposals for Harold Park. The outcome, confirmed at a meeting of full Council on Monday, 26 July 2010, was not all that we would have wished for, but far more favourable than might have been the case if proposals put forward by the current owner, the NSW Harness Racing Club, had been accepted. The next move will by up to the Club which can accept the City’s decision or ask the Minister for Planning to intervene on its behalf.
